some divine beings[a] noticed how attractive human women[b] were, so they took wives for themselves from a selection that pleased them.[c] So the Lord said, “My Spirit won’t remain[d] with human beings forever, because they’re truly mortal.[e] Their lifespan[f] will be 120 years.”

The Nephilim[g] were on the earth at that time[h] (and also immediately afterward), when those divine beings[i] were having sexual relations with[j] those human women,[k] who gave birth to children for them. These children[l] became the heroes and legendary figures of ancient times.[m]
